A little more than a decade ago, a hard rocking trio from South Africa, changed its name from Saron Gas to Seether and disembarked for the United States. It was, according to frontman Shaun Morgan, "an emotional decision, by no means easy. Taking that big step was terrifying, but I feel that the decision we made, as tough as it was, was ultimately the correct one."

5.0 out of 5 stars One Cold Night 4 Sep 2006
Format:Audio CD
An intimate live acoustic set from Seether featuring a selection of songs from Disclaimer II and Karma & Effect. They also perform an accurate rendition of Pearl Jam's classic song "Immortality".

This is a nice little package - CD with all the live songs from the performance plus Karma & Effect single "The Gift" as a bonus track; DVD with the live acoustic set, band interview, photo gallery and "The Gift" music video.

I was intrigued as to how the band could pull off tracks such as "Gasoline", a hard rock song, in an acoustic performance but they pull it off well. Shaun Morgan's vocals are impressive throughout the entire set. Most songs remain exact replicas, note for note, of the studio versions - Seether don't really expand or alter songs for the set, with the exception of "Fine Again" and "Truth", both of which have nice introductions not found on the studio releases.

The sound quality on the CD is very good. Very clear, full and well balanced unlike some live albums - it has been very well produced. The live DVD is well worth watching, although the camera angles change a bit too often for my liking during the performance. Can't fault anything else about the DVD though.

Overall, a very impressive package that is well worth the money of any Seether fan. Highly recommended!

5.0 out of 5 stars Seether + Acoustic = Perfect 2 Jan 2007
Format:Audio CD
I love Seether, their sound is totally different to any other modern day rock/metal bands out there. This CD/DVD combo is the ultimate must have for any Seether fans. To hear the pure and clear vocals of Shaun without any studio enhancment is a real pleasure. The album features a variety of Seether tracks from The Gift to Remedy and of course, Broken. Brilliant sounds and an awesome live DVD compliments the CD.

4.0 out of 5 stars Well worth a listen 28 July 2006
Format:Audio CD
On certain web forums Seether have been slated as a talentless wannabe rock band. Why? I'm not quite sure to be honest. Granted, they sometimes sound a little too Nirvana for me (Shaun definitely has those old Kurt similarities) but that's not to say thay they're a bad band.

Already owning their two previous releases (not including Disclaimer II) I've always had a soft spot for this band, especially live - very tight - and this latest release certainly shows them at their live best. I wasn't too sure what to expect from the acoustic versions of their tracks but they all work really well. Granted, they're not a giant leap away from the originals (no major re-interpretations here unlike some other bands tend to do in this environment) but that's not such a bad thing. This is a set of solid, heartfelt tracks that show off the writing skills of this young band superbly.

You can even look past the fact that, acoustically, this set sounds like a mad cross between Alice in Chains' and Nirvana's MTV Unplugged sets, both quality CDs in their own right.

Production on the CD is first class. There's no overpowering elements to the sound; everything is well balanced, which can't always be said about live CDs.

The bonus DVD in this package is a nice addition but not great. For starters the mix is in normal surrond; no 5.1 mix here I'm afraid to say. It's still a good mix but 5.1 would have clinched it for me, but, as it's a bonus I suppose you can't complain too much? The DVD disc in Sevendust's Southside Double Wide live acoustic release was in normal stereo, so this in an improvement on that I guess?

One bad thing about the DVD is the way the camera shots were cut together.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome Band 6 Sep 2006
Format:Audio CD
This band is just brilliant. I happened to watch them live in South Africa a couple of years ago.

Their live sound. is so good. some live bands sound crap.

Who cares if his voice sounds a bit like kurt corbain. Different band different time...This band is quality....and these songs which are in acoustic form and nothing but 5 stars....

The emotion and passion just flows....

You can't go wrong with this album.
