Product Description

One Buck Horror presents classically-styled tales of modern horror from some of the most exciting writers working in the genre today! Each volume in this critically-acclaimed anthology series delivers quick, sharp thrills that are perfect for reading at home or on the go.

In this volume...

Children shouldn't walk alone at night, not when Pete's around. But not all is what it seems. Pete has a job to do, and in "Helpers" by David Steffen, some jobs require a little assistance.

In "Home" by Augusto Corvalan, pay a visit to a suburban family that's normal in every way...as long as they keep their masks on and their dark urges at bay.

A new arrival is not so joyous for a father who has reason to believe that the child is not only not his own, but something not quite human, in "Child of Dirt" by John F. D. Taff.

Leisa K. Parker plays "The Catman Blues", in which the owner of a nightclub is visited by a strange musician whose primal tunes leave blood and death in their wake.

Family trips go to dark places when duct tape and shovels come into play, but has this last trip gone too far? Find out in "Vacation" by J. Tanner.

Greg Simpson awakes one morning to find his own head sitting on the night table next to his bed. His struggle for sanity becomes a struggle just to stay alive in "Off With His Head" by Mark Budman.

Be sure to check out the other volumes in this ongoing anthology series, and watch for new volumes coming soon!

More psychological thrillers than traditional horror but ok. Glad that it only cost me 99p, though. Think I may have been disappointed if I'd have paid more.

4.0 out of 5 stars another great creepy collection of stories from One Buck Horror! 12 Sep 2011

This issue of One Buck Horror is a little different than the past two. Just like the past two issues, Volume Three is smart, old-fashioned, quality horror. It contains a few stories much shorter than those of past volumes. I didn't get the feeling the stories were held together by a common theme (Volume One had children main characters, Volume Two was full of creature stories). My favorite out of the 6 stories is "Child of Dirt" by John F.D. Taff, about a man who'd be smart to ask for a paternity test when his girlfriend tells him she's pregnant. There's a "Rosemary's Baby" feel to Taff's story. It leaves the reader screaming to the main character "It's not yours!" and wishing he'd run for the hills. It left some very creepy, haunting visuals and had excellent character development. "Home" by Augusto Corvalan was another story out of this bunch that really stood out with excellent description of a family trying so hard to be something they're not. I've enjoyed every issue of One Buck Horror, it's worth much more than the .99 it sells for on Amazon, and I'll definitely be buying future volumes.

Each volume brings readers fresh scares and unique insights into the world of darkness. This is not your run of the mill anthology. This is talent, literate and intelligent.

I've read all editions of one buck horror now and even though volumes three and four aren't my favourite I still really enjoyed them.
These stories are great to have on your phone and you can read one while you're waiting or if you have a spare five minutes. They're well written and easy to read, even if they mightn't stay with you like some of the stories in the other volumes.
Well worth the money.
