Suffering so often is the major block to belief, and so here is this unpacked thoroughly by a wise older brother in the faith. This is a deep dig rummage around lifes most challenging question. The rational heart of God is explored with nothing cliched or patronising offered in this great new addition that if truly taken as the author intends will leave you and I experiencing suffering as the forge of conviction and faith, truly nothing to be feared. While this book is theological, challenging and full of depth: it is also humble, realistic and practical. There is good structure and shape in holding the contrast between the why and the how of God's love. You will rightly feel in the company of wisdom, hope and godly helpfulness.

We need robust yet warm hearted apologetics that is well-grounded when meeting accusations against God. Platitudes are not enough. Bishop Michael Baughen sidesteps nothing, with possibly the most comprehensive publication on the matter offered in the market today. The One Big Question contains well explained science and many other fields also, yet I encountered more of the cross of Christ and the love of God in this writing than in many parallel titles. CWR the publishers deserve to be congratulated for producing one of the most attractive volumes in the market today, font size excluding! Biblically rich, thoroughly researched and warmly communicated. Sensitive, scholarly and soulful!

Having met the author during the summer when he was speaking on the subject of suffering, I formed an helpful opinion of the 'rational' behind God's heart in this matter. On the surface it appears callous of a loving God to allow suffering, but on studying the Bible and this excellent book one can come to a clearer understanding.

Highly recommended reading for those who wish to delve more deeply.

A "must read" if you want to find out why God doesn't prevent natural disasters like tsunamis and why He doesn't stop suffering if He is a God of love. Michael Baughen answers these difficult questions and several other questions besides which a Christian often has to face from those who are asking about the Christian faith. It is the best book I have read on the whole question of suffering and I thoroughly recommend it.

Hi
I have read Michael's book and find that it treats the subject amtter in a straighforward way. If does face up to the problem many have in accepting the idea of a loving God in a world with much suffering. Michael's explanation and his further treatment of how to develop one's faith is excellent. I recoomend this volume to anyone who is concerned with the subject and is looking for an understandable christian explanation.

This book pulls no punches & what I really like is Michael is quite honest in the areas he cannot explain.
Michael spent many years in ministry & there is some very experienced advise here from a man who has seen many hard things to understand. If you wish to read the truth you have it with this book- no hype, no supernatural experiences, just truth! 1005 recommended. This is the only book I have read twice in recent years!!!
