DVD Description

When Stevie (Justine Waddell) meets Neil (Richard Roxburgh - Moulin Rouge) on the day he comes to deliver her brand new kitchen, it’s already too late for love at first sight. Stevie’s already five minutes pregnant by her Italian footballer husband, Sonny. And too late for Neil too – his wife, Jenny has already sent off for an African child for them to adopt. But too late or otherwise, love at first sight is exactly what happens. The process of Neil and Stevie getting out of their mistaken marriages and into each other’s arms is hilarious and poignant in this comedy where the path of true love most definitely does not run smoothly.

The one and Only 13 July 2003
Format:DVD
I have been desperate for the DVD of the movie to appear.
The film is the best laugh that I have had in ages, the humour is so subtle but basic, it is really good for a gang of friends around the TV with a few bottles of wine,
The photography of the Newcastle scenery is breathtaking, the screenplay is so funny, and the characters so real.
It comes from the same stable as East to East, so if you enjoyed that, please buy the DVD !!!

Inconsistent 26 Jan 2012

This movie is listed with titles by Susanne Bier, the Danish director. This is not her movie. However, she did make one with the exact same title (when translated) in 1999 that was very well received. Any ideas where to locate it with subtitles? Thanks.

The best romcom ever! 30 Mar 2010
Format:DVD
Brilliant film about the unpredictability of relationships, falling in love at first sight, friendship and sex in supermarkets. Patsy Kensit in a comedy role (and surprisingly good at it! ), Justine Waddell as a fragile WAG and Richard Roxbrough dishing out the Northern charm as a kitchen fitter with a heart. Uplifting and fabulous for an evening in....And it has the best dance sequence on film - guaranteed to get your feet tapping and shaking your tushie in the living room!

the one and only-Justine Waddell
A wonderfully gentle, humorous and touching production with glorious views of Tyneside. Thought the film represented the early 1980s at first. Read more

caveat emptor
This vapid production is long, long, long at 88 minutes. Uninteresting characters, trite dialogue and mechanical acting unrelieved by even the occasional successful joke add up... Read more

Rcihard Roxburgh in The One and Only
At last, a chance to see Richard Roxburgh as something other than a villan, and 'name above title'. This film is a great vehicle for his talent. Read more
