i was drawn to cryptopsy because of reading a few reviews and hearing that they are more technical than botch and dillinger while being more heavy and extreme so that sounded exciting so i bought this as my first album and all i can say is dear lord (worm),clever use of words again from me,pat on the back time!
this is a band that bring new meaning to the term technical death as far as im concerned, albeit its new to me as the band has been around since 1988.
Album opener luminium couldnt have prepared me for what was to come next as its a nice instrumental, when in the kingdom where everything dies kicks in and lord worm screams his lungs out shivers burnt my spine, they are a band that are heavy but aint afraid to throw in a few intricate melodic moments to soothe and kiss our weary necks, the guitars are blessed with people on them who push them to the limit, the drums are hit like a rhino on an electric chair, this will not sit comfortably with people who think rasmus are the kings of loud music, its so much more interesting than straightforward death metal, this has variety in every twist and turn, the song that i feel is a fine example of what the band are all about is the brooding angelskingarden which is divine and grand and beautiful as well as face ripping heavy, get the idea, yes, well then get this.
