SYNOPSIS: ONCE UPON A HONEYMOON: An American burlesque girl intent on social climbing unknowingly marries a Nazi in the guise of an Austrian Baron. When an American radio reporter tracks the couple down to investigate, she inadvertently falls in love with the reporter instead. - IN NAME ONLY: Alec Walker's wife Maida is a beauty, but she's also a venomous, self-absorbed schemer. Then Alec falls for an open-hearted widow named Julie. And Maida turns wedding vows into a steel trap: If Alec files for divorce, she'll drag Julie into court as a homewrecker - and use Julie's little daughter as a witness. In one of their rare screen pairings, movie greats Cary Grant and Carole Lombard portray Alec and Julie in a tender, emotion-laden tale that ranks among the era's great romantic melodramas. While vindictive Maida (Kay Francis in a bravura turn) treats love like war, Alec and Julie treat love like love, displaying the warmth and deep devotion of a couple meant for each other...but who may be kept forever apart.

5.0 out of 5 stars In Name Only/Once Upon a Honeymoon 28 Mar 2013
I have both of these films, and must say they are so far apart in content to give whoever buys this double dvd a real treat. "Once a Upon a Honeymoon" is a typical Cary Grant comedy, with lots of laughs, a perfect screwball comedy. Ginger Rogers is perfect as the woman who wants to go up in the world, but picks the wrong man to help her do this. Cary Grant plucks her out of trouble, but I will not spoil the rest of this film for those who buy it.
"In Name Only" is drama of the very best, which isn't something you would think of when you remember Cary Grant and his films. He acts his socks off as does Carole Lombard in this beautiful love story. Only remember, this tale is set in a time when phyiscal wasn't seen in films. It is a gentle love affair, spoilt by a vengeful wife. But buy the dvd and find out how both stories pan out.

3.0 out of 5 stars Cary Grant and Carole Lombard 4 July 2014
Format:DVD|Verified Purchase
Cary Grant's performance in this film is superior to that of 'Penny Serenade' and 'None but the Lonely Heart'. He should have been nominated for his role in this film. He displays sensitivity rather than overplaying emotions as he did in 'Penny Serenade'. The mood is good, even though it is not necessarily a good film. The performances are bigger than the film itself, and it is good seeing Grant alongside Carole Lombard.

5.0 out of 5 stars Grant and Rogers 16 Sep 2012

This is a lovely film which I shall admit is a little far fetched and let's just say Ginger's accent is rather unique but otherwise I love the film! The quality on the DVD is good and Cary Grant is wonderful as always. The other film is also good but not so funny. Would recommend for Once upon a honeymoon alone.
