About the Author
Author: Sam McBratney is the award-winning author of nearly 50 books for children. He was a teacher for may years before becoming a full-time author. Sam is married with three children and one grandson. Illustrator: Paul Hess studied graphic deisgn before going on to work as an art director in various design studios. Paul began illustrating full-time in 1991 and has illustrated several children's books.

My three year old loved this tale, which would be suitable for children a few years older too. A simple story of an outcast looking for a friend. He is misunderstood by the other creatures such as cows, sheep etc who all think the hoodie is a monster and run away when he tries to be friendly.

Darling book is son's ALL-TIME favorite!

My son, who is now 7, discovered this book at the library when he was about 3. We checked it out so many times I lost count. My son never, EVER bored of this sweet story so one Christmas, he finally received it as a gift from a grandparent. 4 years after the initial discovery, even though he is now a "big boy", he still loves this beautiful book about a gentle giant who is only looking for some fun and love! Sam McBratney has a special gift for writing books that touch a young one's heart and Paul Hess's glowing illustrations are a brilliant match.
