Teach Me Time! at different times

Onaroo Teach Me Time! Talking Alarm Clock, Sleep Trainer and Nightlight

Teach Me Time! features an interactive, talking time-teaching game designed to help school-aged children learn to tell time on both analog and digital clocks. The large, bright LCD display is capable of displaying the time in either format, or both at once.

How does it work?

First, ask your child to press the left toe button to display a random time on the analog portion of the display (digital time hidden). Next, press the right toe button to have Teach Me Time! speak the answer and display the correct time in digital format.

The game is designed to create a dialogue between you and your child about time, keeping you involved in the learning process. The Teach Me Time! game is fully adjustable – five difficulty levels allow you to restrict which times are displayed (for example, just 'round' hours), so you can start simple and progress in difficulty as your son or daughter matures.

Full manual override provides complete control of the game by the parent, if desired, allowing any specific time to be hand-entered.

Features and benefits

'Grown-up' alarm clock

For older children that want to get up on their own, Teach Me Time! is a fully functional alarm clock with snooze, just like mum and dad's! A fun 'ding-a-ling' bell sound takes the place of the more traditional 'beep-beep-beep', and when sounding, the left toe button snoozes for ten minutes and the right toe button silences the bell.

Safety first

Teach Me Time! has been tested for lead paint content and has passed all related tests as defined by the ASTM F963-07 section 4.3.5.1 safety specification. Teach Me Time! is also CE-certified and comes with a CE-listed AC power adaptor.

Child-friendly shape, parent-friendly design

Children love the shape! 'Toe' buttons are fun to press, and the clock features a large, friendly display with animal icons and a clear, friendly female voice. Parents appreciate the function and form. A concealed parental control panel provides access to clock options and instructions, and the interchangeable LCD bezels (blue, pink, and yellow) provide options for any room decor.

"Ok to Wake!" dual-colour nightlight timer

The nightlight timer is easily programmed to turn on and off at any time of day. Parents can also customise an "Ok to Wake!" time (when the glow colour turns from yellow to green), an optional function.

Battery- and/or mains-operated

Teach Me Time! runs on AC power using the included adaptor. Time and alarm settings are retained automatically in the event of a power failure using two AAA batteries (not included).

More flexible options

Teach Me Time! includes three interchangeable coloured face plates (blue, pink, and yellow). Use the 'Display' button to show just the analog clock face, just the digital clock, or both at once (to help kids make the association). Volume and brightness settings, voice volume (low, medium, and high), and LCD backlight/nightlight brightness (low and high) are all adjustable.

Alarm clock featuring snooze
For older children who want to get up on their own, Teach Me Time! is an alarm clock with snooze just like mum and dad's.
Three interchangeable coloured bezels
Teach Me Time! comes with three interchangeable coloured bezels. Match your toddler's room or attach their favourite.
Parent controls are concealed
Parent controls are cleverly concealed behind the clock's rear panel, keeping them out of the way of curious kids' hands.
Interactive, talking time-teaching game
An interactive time teaching game has adjustable skill levels and teaches time-telling concepts on analog and digital clock faces.

Bought this after my 2.5 yr old was consistantly waking early. On night one we explained to her that she could only get up when light was green & sent her off to sleep as normal. When she woke early the next morning I took her back to her room, checked the clock & when it wasn't green convinced her to go back to bed. Every morning since (8 weeks now) she has successfully waited for the correct time, even sending herself back to sleep if particularly early.

Very much enjoy hearing her pattering accross the landing telling us it is 'wakey-wakey' time because 'it's green'! Also handy when you fancy a Sunday morning lie-in, nothing wrong with adding 30 mins or more to the alarm time :-)

Simple to setup and easy concept for a toddler to grasp - Green = go! Disagree with other comments re the nightlight being too bright, it gives off a dim light that is just enough to cast a glow into a medium-sized bedroom in my opinion.

Our daughter(less than 3 years old at the time of purchase)used to get up anytime between 4.45am and 6.30am. With this clock we managed to gradually change her routine and she now doesn't come out of her room until the clock turns green at 6.30am. I agree that the clock is fairly bright but no more than other children's trainer clocks. Our daughter used to sleep in complete darkness but the light from the clock doesn't seem to bother her or keep her awake at night.

I bought this item to try to keep my two boys (4.5 and 2.5) in bed until at least 7am. It really works. The analogue and digitial display are very clear to read and the instruction that they are not to get up before the green light comes on has been really easy for them to understand and follow. Even the 2 year old.

The talking time feature is very beneficial when teaching them the time. They love pressing the button and hearing the time increment by 1 minute ....

A must buy for parents of early risers.

We inherited a gro clock sleep trainer from my sister, and haven't been able to get on with it. A) due to the menus being completely not intuitive B) You have to set the alarm every night so the moon comes on C) My 4 year old son worked out how to change it to a sun when he woke up. This is more expensive BUT so much better. All the programming buttons are behind a hidden compartment at the back, and very easy to work out - more or less child proof. You don't need to do anything else as it will just go green every morning at the time you set it. If you want you can put on the night light when your child goes to sleep, this only stays on for 30 minutes, but you can program this to a different time.

The only improvement I would make is to have this connected to the mains - it is only a battery watch. I bought this via VERY as they are selling for £24 right now.

We set a rule for our 3.5 year old that he's not allowed to wake us until 7. This was a bit unfair as he was never sure if it was up time. This clock has been brilliant. He loves pressing the button that tells the time and if he wakes before 7 he waits for it to go green. It has also got him more interested in learning how to read the time. As it glows in the dark it also means he can always see it from his bed.

This clock works very well. I had the bunny one before but the kids can easily make the rabbit wake or sleep themselves. This is great, I tell them to stay in bed until the clock is green. The bunny also made a noise when it 'woke up' which could wake your child unneccessarily. This is great as it's silent so your child can sleep on beyond the change if needed. Bit pricey but worth it.

This looked like the perfect answer to the problem of having a toddler who wakes early and then leaves her bed to wake the rest of the household. It had amazing reviews from other purchasers, but maybe I had the misfortune to end up with a dud clock. Despite reading the instructions at length and numerous attempts I can not set the clock to change colour from yellow to green at the allotted hour to show my daughter it is time to get up. The alarm bell is terrifying. Even on the lowest setting the noise is loud and when it went off on the first morning it actually made my daughter cry and I mistook it for the smoke alarm. We haven't used the alarm bell since. Both my husband and I have tried repeatedly to reset it, reread the instructions but to no avail. I'd like to think we are both fairly intelligent individuals but this clock has alluded us. The only positive comment I can make is that it is a good (if rather expensive) night light and the display face with it's analogue and digital design is useful for teaching the time. So as my daughter can count and has good number recognition I have simply taught her what 7:00am looks like on the clock face and told her not to disturb Mummy and Daddy until that time. If anyone can enlighten us on how this wretched device works, I'd be very grateful. Until then, it remains the most disappointing purchase through Amazon to date!

I bought this clock for my then 4 year old who was waking early and getting up. It was getting ridiculous so I had an extensive look around and this seemed to be the best option.

As he was naturally an early riser (and still is) I set the green light to come on at 6.30 - he can get up then and play but he isn't allowed to disturb us until after 7.30. The green light meant he automatically knew when he could/couldn't get up even when in a slightly sleep befuddled state. The combined digital and clock face display meant he easily learnt when it was after 7.30. Shortly after getting this clock he became perfect on telling the time in either format. (He also loves the speaking button but only really presses this for a his amusement rather than relying on it.)

Now two and a half years on I'm buying this again for his younger brother (now also 4). He isn't an early riser per se but he has started appearing in our doorway at odd hours asking if it is breakfast or just simply getting into our bed. This is a relatively recent thing and we want to stop it before it becomes a habit.

I've looked around again and can't find anything that looks as good as this still so I'm buying another. Our son is very excited at getting his own clock like his brothers and I'm sure the novelty of it will mean he quickly settles to the new routine as well.

So - I thoroughly recommend it. It may seem a little pricey but you won't be disappointed.

Last points in response to some other reviews:

1. Setting it
I read some reviews saying the fiddly nature of set up would make it difficult for the child to operate as an alarm clock themselves. Are you kidding?!
