Product Description

Product Description

The Onaroo Teach Me Time! Nightlight with Sleep Trainer and Time Teaching Clock is a child's bedside alarm clock, time-teaching tool and dual-colour nightlight, all rolled into one. The collective features of this educational toy are designed to grow with your child. For children just out of the cot, Teach Me Time! features a dual-colour nightlight that turns green when it's ‘OK to wake!’. The nightlight has flexible timer settings; you define the time that it turns on (soft yellow glow), the time that it changes colour from yellow to green (OK to wake!), and the time that it turns off. If desired, the colour-changing option is easily disabled. For older children that want to get up on their own, Teach Me Time! is a fully-functional alarm clock with a snooze feature, just like mum and dad's. A fun ‘ding-a-ling’ bell sound takes the place of the more traditional ‘beep-beep-beep’. When sounding, the left toe button snoozes for ten minutes and the right toe button silences the bell.

The interactive, talking time-teaching game is designed to help school-aged kids learn to tell time on both analogue and digital clocks. The large, bright LCD display is capable of displaying the time in either format or both at once. First, ask your child to press the left toe button to display a random time on the analogue portion of the display (digital time hidden). Next, press the right toe button to have Teach Me Time! speak the answer and display the correct time in digital format. The game is designed to create a dialogue between you and your child about time, keeping you involved in the learning process. The Teach Me Time! game is fully adjustable; five difficulty levels allow you to restrict which times are displayed (for example, just ‘round’ hours) so that you can start simple and progress in difficulty as your child matures. Full manual override provides complete control of the game by the parent, if desired, allowing any specific time to be hand-entered. LCD display options allow parents to select analogue (clock hands) display, digital clock (numeric) display or both together (to help kids make the association).

The kid-friendly shape features ‘toe’ buttons that kids will find fun to press, while parents appreciate the function and form. Concealed parental control panel provides access to clock options and instructions. Interchangeable LCD bezels (coloured face plates in blue, pink and yellow) provide options for any room decor. Volume and brightness settings are also fully adjustable. Teach Me Time! runs on AC power using the included adaptor. Time and alarm settings are retained automatically in the event of a power failure using two AAA batteries (not included). The product has been tested for lead paint content and has passed all related tests as defined by the ASTM F963-07 sec. 4.3.5.1 safety specification. Teach Me Time! is also CE certified and comes with a UL-listed (US models) or CE-listed (EU models) AC power adaptor.

Please ensure all operations programmed correctly using instruction manual.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic clock for kids (and parents!) 14 Mar 2011
I bought this item to try to keep my two boys (4.5 and 2.5) in bed until at least 7am. It really works. The analogue and digitial display are very clear to read and the instruction that they are not to get up before the green light comes on has been really easy for them to understand and follow. Even the 2 year old.

The talking time feature is very beneficial when teaching them the time. They love pressing the button and hearing the time increment by 1 minute ....

A must buy for parents of early risers.

5.0 out of 5 stars It works! 23 Aug 2011
By CLewis
Bought this after my 2.5 yr old was consistantly waking early. On night one we explained to her that she could only get up when light was green & sent her off to sleep as normal. When she woke early the next morning I took her back to her room, checked the clock & when it wasn't green convinced her to go back to bed. Every morning since (8 weeks now) she has successfully waited for the correct time, even sending herself back to sleep if particularly early.

Very much enjoy hearing her pattering accross the landing telling us it is 'wakey-wakey' time because 'it's green'! Also handy when you fancy a Sunday morning lie-in, nothing wrong with adding 30 mins or more to the alarm time :-)

Simple to setup and easy concept for a toddler to grasp - Green = go! Disagree with other comments re the nightlight being too bright, it gives off a dim light that is just enough to cast a glow into a medium-sized bedroom in my opinion.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great product! 29 Jun 2011
We set a rule for our 3.5 year old that he's not allowed to wake us until 7. This was a bit unfair as he was never sure if it was up time. This clock has been brilliant. He loves pressing the button that tells the time and if he wakes before 7 he waits for it to go green. It has also got him more interested in learning how to read the time. As it glows in the dark it also means he can always see it from his bed.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good, but a bit bright 26 April 2011
By RD
We wanted something our (just) 3 yr old could understand as 'getting up time'. Works brilliantly for this. Only drawback is the background glow from the clock (even at lowest setting) is lighter than any nightlight. Our little one is used to sleeping in the dark and we didn't want to lose this. Clock now wears a black 'beanie' hat until we go to bed. If he wakes in the night it is lighter than he is used to, which is a shame...

5.0 out of 5 stars So good I'm back to buy another 21 Sep 2012
By Me
I bought this clock for my then 4 year old who was waking early and getting up. It was getting ridiculous so I had an extensive look around and this seemed to be the best option.

As he was naturally an early riser (and still is) I set the green light to come on at 6.30 - he can get up then and play but he isn't allowed to disturb us until after 7.30. The green light meant he automatically knew when he could/couldn't get up even when in a slightly sleep befuddled state. The combined digital and clock face display meant he easily learnt when it was after 7.30. Shortly after getting this clock he became perfect on telling the time in either format. (He also loves the speaking button but only really presses this for a his amusement rather than relying on it.)

Now two and a half years on I'm buying this again for his younger brother (now also 4). He isn't an early riser per se but he has started appearing in our doorway at odd hours asking if it is breakfast or just simply getting into our bed. This is a relatively recent thing and we want to stop it before it becomes a habit.

I've looked around again and can't find anything that looks as good as this still so I'm buying another. Our son is very excited at getting his own clock like his brothers and I'm sure the novelty of it will mean he quickly settles to the new routine as well.

So - I thoroughly recommend it. It may seem a little pricey but you won't be disappointed.

Last points in response to some other reviews:

1. Setting it
I read some reviews saying the fiddly nature of set up would make it difficult for the child to operate as an alarm clock themselves. Are you kidding?!

1.0 out of 5 stars Faulty batch of clocks 15 May 2012
We've had the same experience as other reviewers in May 2012 - We're having to return our faulty clock.
It is due to an extremely lose mains connection resulting in the clock constantly resetting, and batteries not preventing the problem.
Seeing the other reviews it seems clear that there is a faulty batch which is very disappointing but perhaps the problem can soon be rectified.Onaroo Teach Me Time Nightlight with Sleep Trainer and Time Teaching Clock

4.0 out of 5 stars Great child clock 26 July 2011
By KM
Our daughter(less than 3 years old at the time of purchase)used to get up anytime between 4.45am and 6.30am. With this clock we managed to gradually change her routine and she now doesn't come out of her room until the clock turns green at 6.30am. I agree that the clock is fairly bright but no more than other children's trainer clocks. Our daughter used to sleep in complete darkness but the light from the clock doesn't seem to bother her or keep her awake at night.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for sleep training 21 Mar 2011
By I. Robb
This clock works very well. I had the bunny one before but the kids can easily make the rabbit wake or sleep themselves. This is great, I tell them to stay in bed until the clock is green. The bunny also made a noise when it 'woke up' which could wake your child unneccessarily. This is great as it's silent so your child can sleep on beyond the change if needed. Bit pricey but worth it.

Our daughter really likes it and it gets her engaged in the idea of time, it is a little bit bright, even when turned right down. Changing colour thing works really well.
