Book Description

3 Aug 2009
When a young woman moves to London, leaving behind her sheltered life in Hungary, she stumbles across the world of submission. Out of a desperate need for money as well as deeper motives that become apparent, she resolves to explore this strange and often violent subculture. This is her astonishing true account of the events that followed.

Under her alias Shana Shine she reveals the reality of life as a submissive - the comic role-plays, discipline, humiliation and beatings. The centrepiece of the book is a bizarre 'love' relationship she forms with one of her clients, a well-known and respected businessman. Candid, often humorous, and sometimes disturbing, Shana's memoir is an unforgettable journey and a moving insight as to why one woman would decide on a life of corporal pain.

On undefended flesh - a submissive reveals her bdsm journey by Shana Shine

If you ever wish to read a book about a foolish woman and a lack of self worth this is the one for you.
Although many GentleMen attempt to guide her she developes a kind of stockholm syndrome with an abuser who masks his albeit well-paying intentions under the guise of non-negotiated bdsm, or as i am sure i would translate beaten damaged stupid martyrdom.
With a hint of age-play, verging on the boundary-less and beatings so bad the girl breaks canes and bleeds for her "daddy" this is a truly disturbing book disguised as a story of a *true* submissive's life... imo this is the tale of a highly paid prostitute falling in love with the *idea* of submission without examining it's source while rejecting those who would willingly (and did willingly) attempt to guide her into a safe way to live.

As a 24/7 submissive i would say this story is not about a woman who is submissive, nor desires to serve, however i would offer that this book may lead you to review your boundaries and your Top/Sir/Master's desire for your adequate and clear communication and is more than likely to be educational wrt where you WON'T go rather than where you will.

4.0 out of 5 stars Raw and poweful 29 Aug 2009
Format:Paperback
A friend recommended this book to me, and though I know little about BDSM I still found it fascinating. It is well written and there are surprisingly quite a few funny moments, though most of the book is rather terrifying. I liked how the author added texts and emails which gives you a good idea what is going on in the heads of the clients she sees - the book is like a crazy psychological study. I took 1 star off as the book ends too suddenly, but apart from that, it is one of the most original memoirs I have read in ages.

2.0 out of 5 stars Unexpected 31 May 2010
By Megan N. Woodrum - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
It seems like more "adult" novels written by women don't focus on the sex quite as much, but also include the more realistic emotional side of the experience. However, with this novel, it's almost too much. The main character is completely unlikeable as she ends up being a hysterical, neurotic young lady whose obsession over men that are--quite honestly--pathetic is disheartening and depressing. In a similar book--Stella Black's "Daddy's Girl"--there is some angst and trauma, but the main character is so completely charming that the book ends up being impossible to put down. With "On Undefended Flesh," I just wanted it to be over already.
