Deep Purple has always been a group who are at their best live on stage- their extensive live back catalogue pays testament to that fact. This box set pulls together live performances from throughout their 30 year career and shows why they remain so popular today. Many of the tracks are available on Connossieur's previous Purple releases, though several appear here on CD for the first time. 'Hush' (from the Royal Albert Hall '69) features a superb Gillan vocal, while all aspiring drummers should heed the live 'Fireball' as evidence of Ian Paice's awesome talents! The dedicated fan may own most of this, but for the less committed or those newly turned onto the 'Purps', a useful and value-for-money purchase.

Its well known that the name Deep Purple has had a variety of line-ups, or "Marks" over the years. Everyone has their favourite (although I'm still undecided), and this collection spans most of these. Although I'm disappointed there's nothing from the Mark VII line-up (with the excellent guitar maestro Steve morse), its definitely worth buying, whether you're new to the Purple live releases (I only owned Made In Japan before this)or want to find some of those rare songs ("Bad attitude", a Mark II b-side)then I would definitely recommend this!

4,5 stars have a respect for this hard rock dinosaurus 18 Aug. 2004

if you are a die hard Deep Purple fan like some reviewers below and of course like me too! you will love this pearl collection songs of deep purple. The 4 discs are 24 bit remastered songs, some of the unreleased livesongs like stormbringer, wild dogs, lazy, fireball, Highway star are never issued on any cd format before.

Once again, the pearl collection songs are dedicated to "die hard and long time deep purple fans". If you arent! perhaps you know the only one song of DP such as Smoke on the water! then please keep away your fingers from this, because you won?t surely like them all. On the other hand, the most die hard DP fans would like the whole set for sure.

PS: do not forget to see the pretty photos of band members as sleeve in the boxset. You will love it!

much better LIVE SHOW than Stones or beatles!
yes they're rocking more & are louder than Stones or beatles ever did on stage. The boxset has 32 songs as pearl or pots of gold. The line up from the band Mark II, III and IV songs are included in this exclusive set. You will be satisfied with the songs. I quarantee ya all!
