Format:Audio CD
Three FM broadcast concerts for only £8.99 is definitely excellent value. The concerts are actually Fillmore West San Francisco on 15 October 1970, Berkshire Music Centre Tanglewood (not England duh!) on 18 August 1970 and Melbourne. All the concerts are worth listening to and the Melbourne concert is over 150 minutes long. I particularly enjoyed the Fillmore concert as there are not a lot of recordings of the Bartz/Jarrett/Henderson/DeJohnette/Moreira line up. The only negatives are a couple of annoying radio announcements - the most annoying being someone from from KPFA talking over the middle of a track on the Fillmore concert - and the fact that there are no "iconic artwork and in depth sleeve notes". Hence the 4 stars.

The 1970 FM recordings are not the best quality, but well worth a listen if you are into the "Electric Period"
The 1988 Melbourne FM recording is much better. Not the best packaging by the cd manufacturer.
When i received the box set from amazon, i found that 3 of the 4 plastic teeth that hold the cds in, were broken.
Too bad there was no liner notes, just the track listing.
"Update on Packaging" - Amazon replaced the cd set, did not even have to return broken packaging :)

This is the classic case of a physical CD having no real point or advantage over a download!!!
Good to have this music, but packaging not up to much - oversized, "book" format which is inconvenient and only really worth while if necessitated by the inclusion of an actual book to match the format - but in this case there is the absolute minimum information or photographs etc, so a completely pointless exercise. To make matters worse, and like another reviewer found, CD retention teeth were broken ( to all 4 CDs in my case) so case is completely unusable as well. It is good value though - so make your own mind up!

All depends.....
This is good value for your money. Personally I loved disc 1 & 2. The other two discs are a mixture of the great and the lost! I guess it all depends on where your focus is. Read more
