As the other reviewer mentioned below, this is a pretty good place to begin if you're interested in the music of Kansas. It covers some of the highlight songs from the Steve Walsh years of the band, with one track from 'Kansas,' three tracks from 'Masque,' three tracks from 'Leftoverture,' one track from 'The Point Of Know Return,' and two tracks from the more pop-influenced 'Monolith.'
Considering the price (I picked this up at Wal-Mart for six bucks), there's really not much to gripe about regarding this compilation. The song selection is actually good, with the most glaring omissions being "The Point Of Know Return" and "Song For America." As for the sound quality, I compared the 1999 'Best Of' (supposedly remastered) cd to this, and 'On The Other Side' sounded much brighter, clearer, and louder.
A few complaints aside, I think this would be a good buy for someone only mildly curious about Kansas. Otherwise, just go ahead and purchase the recently remastered versions of the first five albums (all of which are exceptional).
