Not For You 22 Oct 2007
Format:Hardcover
Colleen, you are an exquisite writer, but not in thrillers,
The culprit was obvious from the begining to us (not the investigators) based on your lack of supplying information about him while extensively supplying information on others. The finding out of the truth lies on mere coincidence for the Cop-side. Not on suspicion or mind work.
Colleen, stick to what you do best, you write well and if you contemplate a thriller it has to work our minds trully, or else, please don't.

I've read every book Colleen McCullough has written, including a cookery book. I was surprised when I started On, Off to realise it was a piece of crime fiction but knowing what an intelligent writer she is I delved in. I am also a fan of crime fiction and have read a wide selection. This book was really enjoyable to read and, as I expected, well up there with the best. It seems that whatever Ms McCullough turns her hand to she never disappoints. This book deserves 5 stars.

Off, definitely off 15 Aug 2011
By ljm
Format:Paperback
Sadly, I have to agree with every word written by Sissel M. Østdahl "smaureen" in her review.

I felt dreadfully let down by Colleen McCullough with this book - the subject matter was distasteful in the extreme, and there seemed no apparent depth of thought to anything, except to the disagreeable nature of the crime.

I came to the only conclusion possible, that this was all a big misunderstanding, it could not possibly have been written by the Colleen McCullough I know and admire, the careful researcher and author of the wonderful historical novels about Rome.

I finished the book - I really don't know why - but having done so, I immediately threw it in the paper recycling unit at the end of our street and felt strangely relieved for having done so.
