Acclaimed poet Patience Agbabi was appointed Canterbury Laureate 2009-2010, charged with inspiring writers throughout the district to explore the world of words. Her Laureate Squad of novelists and poets took to the streets and beaches, classrooms and performance spaces, encouraging residents and visitors to write for the first time or hone existing talent. The poems and stories collected here are testament to the richness of our local writers' imaginations and their commitment to developing their work.
On the Line also features new writing by Laureate Squad members Andrew McGuiness, Danny Rhodes, Gary Studley and Vicky Wilson and the first installment of Patience Agbabi's ambitious new project to re-invent Chaucer's Canterbury Tales for the 21st century.
