Book Description

What Are You Most Grateful For?

Ricky Gervais says . . . Pajamas.
I've started wearing pajamas out, because they're more comfortable than trousers. (Laughs) I started out with jeans, then went to sweatpants about ten years ago. Now it's just pajamas. I wore them to the White House. I've gone whole hog.

Dolly Parton says . . . Humble Roots.
I think being brought up dirt poor left with me with a feeling of what it was like to go without, so I can relate when people are having a hard time. In my case, being a songwriter, I'm able to write not only for and about myself, but for what I know other people are feeling, even if they don't always have the means to get their voices heard.

Anne Rice says . . . Clackety-Clack.
My stepmother, who was a very practical, wonderful woman, took me into Dallas before I went into college to buy me a typewriter. She picked out this wonderful little portable one, black and white keys, and it was real fast. I still have it. I won't give it up.

In this enlightening and engaging collection, celebrities from Seth Rogen and Sheryl Crowe to Joyce Carol Oates and B.B. King share the people, places, and things for which they are most grateful. Alternately sentimental and surprising, wise and wacky, these heartfelt "gratitude bucket lists" as described by some of our most beloved artists are sure to inspire readers everywhere to make their own lists--and live their own lives with more love, affection, and thanksgiving.

5.0 out of 5 stars Loved it! 7 Oct 2010

Okay, what's with all of these crappy reviews that have nothing to do with the book and everything to do with a lame Kindle download or something? Come on... blast amazon, your spouse, the wall, but not the author, because this book is really great!!

I grabbed a copy before boarding a plane, half expecting an aspartame (you know, the artificial sweetener) read. I like celebrities as much as the next gal, but they're celebrities -- they live in mansions -- of course they're grateful!

Well, as the old adage goes about a book and its cover... I was wrong. This book is 100% real! And with no strange aftertaste.

I knew I was in for a ride from the first interview because this Jensen can definitely write. He makes you feel like your in the room, chilling and talking about life with these... legends. And, come on, who doesn't want to chill with Sir Ben Kingsley, Annie Leibovitz, Kurt Vonnegut, or David Lynch who, by the way, was not at all what I expected! I guess that's the thing, you learn all kinds of things about these people - how and why they are who they are, their struggles, and basically how their gratitudes tick - and it's damn inspiring! And funny. And a friendly nudge in a positive direction.

In the book Jonathan Safran Foer says "I'm grateful for anything that reminds me of what's possible in this life." Ditto. And ON GRATITUDE definitely did that for me.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful words to live by! 7 Oct 2010
By Crisann Morgan - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
Todd Jensen's book is a wonderful journey into the world of gratitude. I love reading Jensen's poetic descriptions of each person he interviewed and how he shaped each interview. I found all of the stories just fascinating and in turn I was inspired to start my own gratitude list. A great read. I read my copy like a menu.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Lesson 7 Oct 2010
By Kimberley Lovato - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
I am not sure why the negative comments related to the download of a free (meaning, cost nothing to you) sample are posted here. Complain to Amazon, not under the title of Todd Jensen's book that asks the basic question, "What are you grateful for?" While I see most of you are not grateful for Amazon and the downloading capability to your kindles, I wonder if you are grateful to have a computer, to be able to read, that you can afford to buy books, that you can type? Pat Jensen on the back and say, "thanks for the reminder!" Remember what you have, what you are grateful for, and let the negativity go. Those around you will probably be grateful you did.
