Book Description

This is the amazing, terrifying, muscle-packed story of the most feared and respected bouncer in the country. When Stellakis Stylianou, known to his friends – and his enemies – as Stilks, was a kid growing up in London he was so poor that he had to go out hunting pigeons for his family’s supper. It was the memory of those lean days that made him vow that his own family would never be hungry again. And so he forged a life for himself doing what he knew best – using his muscle and his unstoppable force to keep law and order on the streets, in a way that no uniformed copper could ever do…Now he has risen to become the most famous club doorman in the world. Woe betide anyone who mistakes his firm politeness for weakness.

This was just a list of thuggery and layabout by a lazy ("garden full of weed growth and rubbish") person just doing anything but work.

2.0 out of 5 stars A mistake 8 Nov. 2014

It's written as if he's speaking and involves too much superfluous swearing for my tastes. I bought the book on the recommendation of a doorman friend. I now realise his choices of literature and mine are very different. I wouldn't even call this literature so much as a platform for Stylianou to do the 'big I am'.

Liked this book as its not your usual over hyped gangster read. He worked on the doors of some places I am familiar with, but did not use. Got to the photo section at the back and saw a guy I used to play in the same football team as. It's a small world.

1.0 out of 5 stars nought special 6 Nov. 2013

Nothing out of the ordinary
I was a bit surprised with this as I recently read wild cats and devil shook my hand where real hard men tell stories full of humour and violence. I found this one to be very average,am sure he is hard but just to average bloke. There is nothing in book that stands out ,no funny story or real interesting . I know he ain't a crim but the little scams are like a school boys and losing 500quid on bets and worrying seems like he should choose another profession to keep roof over heads. I wish there was some great fights or some good stories . He knocks a few people but they all seem to be up again

Quite interesting and funny.
Worth a quick read at the price.Made me laugh at some situations .Stellakis does not attempt to overlarge himself, and talks from an ordinary person view. .

1.0 out of 5 stars Truth or Fiction 15 Aug. 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
An awful book. The man who never, ever lost a fight. The man who during the xtc generation never had anything to do with either trying to stop dealing or whose bouncer friends never got involved. A boys own terrible written book bought by error. Bad mistake. Dont buy.
