Product Description

Review

For a town with no underage prostitution, Bradford is doing well in the crime stakes with 4 young prostitutes killed within the last six months. Nicknamed the "Trash Bag Killer", the murderer leaves characteristic clues but so far the police have drawn a blank. Detective Inspector Handford finds himself at the scene of the fourth crime unwillingly and is drawn into the investigation against his will. Paired with the anachronistic Sergeant Khalid Ali, he plays a major role in the hunt for a killer which casts his fellow officers into the net of investigation and unwittingly draws Ali into a world he would rather not inhabit, causing him to question his life and career. Lesley Horton paints a vivid picture of child prostitutes and their naivety preyed on by their pimps, casting an underlying social agenda to the book. However, the plot is fast-paced, full of red herrings and a page-turner to the end. An exciting find. - Lucy Watson

I've not read many books like this before, and I was very impressed. The story and details felt very real and believable, I feel now like I've had real insight into UK police work and life. There's no better recommendation than to say I finished this book within 48 hours, it kept me gripped the whole way through. I will be looking out for more Leslie Horton books.

Well written, well paced book. Particularly interesting if you are from the West Yorkshire area, as these Inspector Handford books reflect the racial tensions and the attempts to overcome them in that area. Leslie Horton's police procedure is believable and accurate, and she has the knack of bringing the characters in her books alive. Well worth reading even if you've no Yorkshire roots.

After reading Snares of Guilt, I couldn't wait to get my hands on the second Inspector Hanford book. I was not disappointed, this book lived up to everything expected in a crime thriller. The only unfortunate thing is having to wait until April 2005 for Lesley Horton's next book. This book is excellent!
