I've got lots of cookery books, & this is one of my favourites. There are lots of interesting and different recipes such as cranberry & pecan loaf, as well as traditional recipes for items such as muffins & brownies. The recipes are easy to follow & the author, who was on BBC's Masterchef, has researched the history of many of them. It's a 'word of mouth' book, which was recommended to me by a friend, and which I have recommended to others. My mouth's watering so I'm off to bake a cake.

This is without doubt the best baking book ever. If you need to have just one book, this would be it. Fantastic no fail recipes. I love the varieties as well. The Finnish Pulla Bread and Swedish Lucia rolls are as genuine as any you will get in their traditional kitchen. I make the Shortbread squares and Apple Tart over and over again for my friends and family. Really highly recommended - definitely a word of mouth book, I was recommended mine by Clarissa Dickson Wright when she used to have a shop in Edinburgh.
