This new release is an exact re-release of the Philips 2cd set but now on RPM/Cherry Red Records and with a new sleeve.
I loved The Springfields, Dusty's voice just knocked me out as nobody had ever sounded like that before and it paved the way for a fantastic solo career that was still to come.
This set contains almost all The Springfields recordings, most of them bright and cheerful but some beautiful ballads like "No Sad Songs For Me" and "Two Brothers". There are some great novelty numbers like "Maracabamba" with Dusty using her "Goons" type voice on the fade-out and take a listen to "The Johnson Boys" as it has some great lines.
Also here are the songs The Springfields are best known for;- "Island Of Dreams", "Silver Threads & Golden Needles". "Bambino", "Say I Won't Be There", "Swahili Papa" and "Come On Home".
The Springfields are always good to play if you need some cheer in your life - enjoy!

The only songs missing by the Springfields are the Christmas carols given away with WOMANS OWN magazine-O Holy Night and Jingle Bells.
Otherwise this is all the album and singles tracks which began with Dear John in 1961 and ending with the 2 songs from the film ITS ALL OVER TOWN in 1963 which coincided with Dusty Springfield's solo career which just happenned to land her as part of the British Invasion.
The Springfields recorded their 2nd album in Nashville and had a pre Invasion hit with Silver threads & Golden needles.They were in the right area musically as the Urban Folk Revival had begun in the States with the Kingston Trio in 1958
The male members of the trio also had their own hit careers with Tom Springfield writing for the Seekers and others.
This is what we've come to expect from Cherry Red-a booklet of pix and info plus a listing of all the singles and albums

Format:Audio CD
The Springfields were different - Brits singing American songs. Super harmonies with of course Dusty's incomparable voice very much to the forefront. They seemed to enjoy everything they sang and certainly fired my boyhood imagination as regards coping with dreams and yearnings for the wide world.
