Omron M2 Basic Upper Arm Blood Pressure Monitor

The blood pressure monitor is a breeze to use, from unpacking to setting up for use took more than a couple of minutes. Its simply a case of connecting the tube from the arm cuff into the main unit then putting the cuff around the appropriate part of your arm, pressing the single on/off/start button initiates the measurement (simple as pie!). Once the sequence is finished the systolic and diastolic as well as your currently measured pulse/heart rate all displayed on the large clear LCD display. Should your measurements fall outside of normal ranges then a heart symbol flashes on the display after measurement to indicate this to you.

The machine come complete with a nylon travel bag to store the machine,cuff and manual, however the bag does not have a carry handle which might be useful if you need to carry the kit out and about for instance.

The well written manual comes in the following languages English,French Spanish, German, Italian,Dutch Russian and Arabic, however its so simple to use you perhaps wont really need to refer to the manual. There also a chart included to record your measurement onto should you require.

The machine comes supplied with four AAA alkaline type batteries ready for use, but alternatively can be used with a general purpose 6V DC electrical adapter (available separately) thereby bypassing the need for batteries.

Although the product is described as basic model, the performance is anything but perhaps, decent build quality, reasonably accurate, large clear LCD display and the price that Amazon are offering the unit is excellent value.

This Omron basic digital automatic blood pressure monitor is presented well packaged together with a generous zipped storage case and four AAA alkaline batteries required to power the unit. Also included in the package is an instruction booklet running to over 250 pages which appears daunting until one realises that only the first 34 are in English, the balance of the booklet being in a further eight languages.

The instructions are simple to follow, the cuff comfortable and easy to attach and the monitor straight forward to operate. Illustrations in the booklet assist. The Omron appears accurate when checked against other monitors in my possession and also against one at my doctor's surgery.

The monitor has a memory to record the last reading only but does not have the capacity to allow readings to be downloaded to a computer which is slightly disappointing when compared to other similar monitors, but in fairness these may be more expensive to purchase.

This appears to be a good user friendly basic blood pressure monitor for people wishing to check their blood pressures at home and useful for those, like me, who suffer from `white coat syndrome' and whose blood pressure is elevated in the doctor's surgery.

This M2 Basic blood pressure monitor couldn't be easier to use. Simply fit the supplied AAA alkaline batteries, sit down, relax, attach the cuff and then switch it on. Within just a few seconds the cuff will be fully-inflated and your blood pressure measured and shown on the large, clear LCD panel. If your BP is outside the recommended range, ie 135/88 then a beating heart symbol will be displayed. If you know you have high blood pressure then the monitor can accommodate higher readings outside the 'recommended' scale - just continue to press the 'start' button until the cuff inflates to 30-40mmHg higher than your usual systolic reading.

Full instructions with simple diagrams are included to illustrate the correct posture for taking an accurate measurement and how to correctly fit the cuff - which is also illustrated on the cuff itself so it's actually quite difficult to accidentally use the monitor incorrectly.

We have four blood pressure monitors in the family so are able to compare this one against other models currently available. This is the smallest, lightest, fastest and most compact unit and I particularly like the soft nylon cuff. So many monitors have a rigid cuff and these can be quite uncomfortable, particularly if you have slender arms like I do. This cuff is designed to fit a 22-32cm circumference arm but larger cuffs are available. A soft, zipped carry case is also included ideal for both travel and general storage.

The monitor has a memory which records the last reading only rather than a daily/weekly/monthly trend and it doesn't provide a link to a personal computer for downloading readings. If you're looking for a model with these functions, then I very highly recommend the Omron M10-IT Upper Arm Blood Pressure Monitor with Dual user facility with dual size cuff which I have also tested and awarded a well-deserved 5 stars.

This is a very good, reliable blood pressure monitor for anyone who wants to monitor their BP at home. It's also ideal for 'white coat hypertensives' ie those people whose blood pressure soars when measured in a medical setting who could be misdiagnosed as hytpertensive when, in normal surroundings, readings are perfectly normal.
