Really impressed! 5 Sep 2006
By Jane
I was given this to use for work, and was impressed with how easy it was to use (was not given the instruction book). I did not realise how great it was until I started to compare it to other recorders. That it has a usb connector built in is fab. No need for any cables. The quality was great for what I needed. I then added a headset, so I could do recordings suitable for a podcast - wow! Great quality. Only slight hassle was having to convert the WMA files into mp3. But there is loads of free software that converts these, so no big deal. The 55 hours recording time really sets it apart as well.

Works with a Mac 3 May 2006
As an Apple Mac user, I just needed a digital recorder that worked! I took a gamble with this one and the Mac (10.4 Tiger) recognises it right out of the box, no cables or drivers required!

Recordings are made in Windows Media (WMA) format which I convert to MP3 using an app called ffmpegX (get it from versiontracker.com) and it works perfectly.

This product really starts to shine when you use an external stereo microphone - the quality is amazing.

I would give this 5 stars if it recorded directly to MP3.

Genius !!! 31 Dec 2006
I am a student studying Journalism and so I needed a device that was small and compact yet powerful and reliable enough to record my interviews. Having used the now seemingly obsolete minidisk format and having lugged the hefty marantz round with me this little Olympus device fits the bill perfectly.

Not only is it small enough to carry around in my top pocket it is pc friendly and works fine with Adobe Audition (the software I use to edit my interviews). The quality of sound recordings is phenomenal if a little over sensitive but im looking to rectify this with a decent microphone.

I cant recommend this product enough. I just know it'll serve me well.
