The W-10 is a digital voice recorder with a built-in digital camera - it can simultaneously record sound and take photographs allowing you to create a multi media slide show.Thanks to its 16MB built-in memory, the W-10 can store an impressive 3 hours of dictation and up to 250 images. Both audio and JPEG files can be transferred instantly to a PC via a high-speed USB interface, and during playback the photographs provide visual indexes linked to specific points in the voice recording. The images can also be used as visual cues that let you jump to a particular point in a recording, and are a great way to get a quick visual overview of the material recorded.

Portable and functional but lacks image and voice quality,

As portable as the average mobile phone - weights just a couple of ounces and slips into top pocket. Easy to operate both the device itself and the software/PC connection (UBS port), which installed with no problems.However, what it lacks is voice and image quality. No point in using long play (LP) voice mode. High Quality (HQ) voice (45 mins) gives reasonable quality but there is too much background hiss and other noise on the recording. Quality of photo images is also poor. I was hoping to use this device to replace my analogue portable tape recorder and digital camerea in one go. However, while this is great for taking notes when on the move (memos, lectures, meetings), the lack of voice and image quality means that you cannot record much of lasting value. Was I expecting too much for under £100?

this recorder is not bad at all, especially for the price it is well worth it. For those who are serious users i suggest you get a more advance version with extra features. It has a number of functions, like lp, sp, hq mode. It has a record level of three hours at lp and 45 mins of record at short play. Quality is not bad, although at Sp and lp i could not notice much difference. However the high quality mode is quite good, and the only thing which let me down is the 45 minute record level. The camera is well below average boasting only a couple of 100 pixels. Olympus voice recorder is very light to carry and is convenient for attending lectures, seminars etc. The sound level is not very good, with no extra features for record sond level, but for the price theres no complaint. I hope this review was useful.

I practice medical massage. Before Olympus, I had to continually stop procedure in order to record technique and palpation findings. With Olympus, I simply hook the recorder onto my clothing and record necessary findings as I work. Session is greatly shortened. The photo quality also allows me to do before and after pictures for the clients viewing. This is the only negative, it is not digital for on-the-spot viewing. Most clients do not schedule time to downloan into the computer, so photos are viewed at the follow-up session. For the price, a wonderful tool for therapists. Highly recommend.
