I have had one of these for years and it is still going strong. Recording quality is perfectly acceptable. I use it to write footpath guide books so it is mainly used out of doors. It's bulky but still fits neatly into a coat pocket.
Despite its size I find it easier to use than digital recorders which are often very complicated to set up and use. I have had two Olympus digital ones and still like to go back to this because of its simplicity and robustness.

This item does exactly what it says. It has all the functions you require to record someone/something; record, play and rewind. It is a very useful, compact and quite stylish dictaphone.
I didn't want a fancy one that was digitally enhanced, comes with a 100page manual and costs the earth so I bought this one.
I am pleased that I made this decision!
It records from a fair distance so you don't have to shove it in someone's mouth to record them and playback is extremely clear.
Overall a very good, cheap purchase!

Amazon Verified Purchase
Excellent recorder. We have been using for a number of years and had no problems. Had difficulty locating from our usual supplier so came onto Amazon and got two for less than the price we paid for the last one. Delivered in fantastic time and fully working. Used daily by 3 staff, they are good quality work horses.

Olympus Dictaphone
This dictaphone is a simple one and easy to use. My daughter is using it to record her revision notes for her A levels. The quality of the recording is good.

Poor quality
I purchased this for dictating in an NHS Trust that is too overspent to supply adequate numbers of dictaphones for its consultant staff. When I tried it the sound quality was poor. Read more
