A good progression from point and shoot,

I researched for a long time before buying this. I was ready to upgrade my old point and shoot digital camera and wanted something that would stretch me a bit more - and this does. Yes, you can use the "easy guide" and auto, but when you're ready to move on from that, there's plenty to explore. No, the camera is not pocket size, but is not a burden to carry everyday in a handbag. The photos are superb, crystal clear and it's easy to pick the camera up and start shooting straightaway. I am happy I bought it.

As an owner of the Pen EP-1 and the GF1 Im used to good solid build quality. however this has a lot more plastic the the ep1. After having this for a few days I couldnt see much difference between the ep1. there are a few more art filters yes and the AF might be fractionally quicker, but is no where near as quick as the GF1. personally if you dont mind the build go for this, but the EP1 is the better of the two in my opinion and you can get it for cheaper.

Great camera for P&S upgrader or photographic nut,

I'm the photographic nut and wanted max IQ in a small package inc the tiny Olympus lenses, first trip was a Bon Jovi concert indoors in low light and the camera focused with no problems and gave me great high ISO results. The controls could do with a few more things such as a control wheel and a extra button for something dedicated. There is more controls in the menus then you will need but it's all there if needed . Jpegs out of the camera are the best i've seen, the VF-2 is amazing as a option ,almost like having a full frame finder, it's so clear and bright. So if you want a small camera with mid level DSLR IQ , fairly good alround speed and the ability to blag your way into a Bon Jovi concert where DSLR,s are not allowed then the EPL-1 is for you.
