I wanted this for shooting landscape shots when I am out hiking. I have an E-PL1 which is great, and the 14-42 and 40-150 zooms are good, but sharpness is seldom a real strength of zoom lenses. This is much better, and the faster aperture gives more flexibility. It focuses quickly and first time out I got some really great shots that for me justify the cost.

I bought the Olympus PEN camera with a 50mm standard lens which, although perfectly acceptable, proved make quick use of the camera impossible, as you have to turn the camera on, then twist the lens open before an image will activate. With this great wide angle lens as soon as you turn the camera on the lens is active without having to rotate it, so makes it perfect for those occasions when you just have to point and click and record something quickly. Because of its shorter profile it makes the camera less bulky and it fits into the neat leather cases you can get specifically for this camera. I have put the old lens away and think this lens will be pretty much all i'll ever use now.
