I couldn't believe my luck when I discovered that this book had been written especially for owners of my most recent purchase. At the time I was working my way through the manufacturer's instruction manual, which I found tedious and confusing. "Dummies" has not only been a fantastic way to understand the workings of the camera - it really gets to the logic of how its many features work, and uncovers quite a few that I would never have discovered - it has also been a lesson in the art of photography.
For anyone new to the world outside the compact camera, this book hits the spot by being both informative and entertaining. It is not going to be of great value to the experienced amateur or pro, but the E-PL1 is probably not a camera for those segments either. So if you buy this camera, and there are many reasons why you should, then make absolutely sure that you add this book to the bundle.

at present I am half way through this great book, to say it helps me is an understatment. Beautifully presented well written, humerous even but above all it tells you the sometimes complicated explanation of Digital Photography in a simplistic manner. Get it today!

This is the first 'Dummies' book I can wholeheartedly recommend. The E-PL1 is a great camera, but the manual is a big let-down, it explains nothing. That's where this book comes in. The big plus is that it is written in English, whereas you have the feeling the Oly manual has been translated from another language. I took it (and the camera!) with me on holiday and constantly referred to it. If you've got the Pen camera, get this book. Everything will then become clear.
