If you own a compatible camera, this piece of kit is the only way to attach the teleconverter, macroconverter or just filters. Simply screw onto the camera body giving you a site for 55mm filters. Unfortunately, there are a couple of problems lugging this extra piece of kit around.

1/ If you don't mount it permanently (and I reccomend you do) you now have a sharp edged metal tube floating around in your camera bag.

2/ Mounted it permanently? Good - now you'll need a 55mm lens cap and at least a UV filter. Oh, and probably a bigger bag, as the camera is now an akward shape, and get rid of the original lens cap.

On the plus side, having this adapter solves one of my biggest bugbears with the UZ series - the access to moving parts in the lens barrel - fit this and never worry about getting sand down the lens again. worth it for that alone.

Oh - and if you see a cheaper item on Ebay marked as a CLA-4 - check out the step in the barrel - the Olympus piece is shaped as the image above. The cheap knockoff's are generally flimsy bits of kit, even if they do come with a free UV filter.

Does exactly what it says. Converts your lens thread to 55mm.
I've been using it for a few weeks now and haven't come across any problems. It screws on and off very easily and attaching filters to the front has been a breeze.
The price is a bit steep for what is essentially a screw on adapter, but I suppose that comes with it being a proprietary device. That said, it seems well built.

Be careful, despite what this site tells you this Converter ring WILL NOT fit the Olympus SP560 camera., as I discovered when I ordered the 2 together.
