So, what of the content? Well, we have (I think) all of the "Physical" video collection from 1981(?) plus 7 cuts from the "Olivia In Concert" video. The picture quality of the latter is disappointing, looking very much like VHS but at least without the tracking problems, drop-outs and with much improved audio. The Physical video cuts are rather soft and washed out too, looking only marginally better than VHS. But the important thing is they almost certainly look better than any version you already have, and the sound is great.
Also included are all videos from the "Twist Of Fate" and "Soul Kiss" video EPs (the former including more songs than were on my VHS version, and the latter minus Olivia's interview/chatter between the songs unfortunately), and all of the videos from the 20th Century Masters DVD Collection released earlier this year. Finally, and most exciting for me since I didn't already have them, the videos for "The Rumour" (*very* 80s), "Can't We Talk It Over In Bed" (quite good), "Reach Out For Me" (beautiful), "I Need Love" (good/modern) and "I Honestly Love You" (1998 version - classy!) are also here.
Summary: It would have been great if the video for "No Matter What You Do" could have been included (plus any others from the mid 90s onwards that were made), "Had To Be" with Cliff Richard, the "Rumour Down Under" video collection, clips from the early 70s... But, for goodness sake! - 39 videos in one package, great sound, lovely Livvy.. all yours for a tenner. It's a no-brainer.
Note: Although these discs are Region 2-6, I think they are NTSC format (there is nothing on the packaging to confirm this). Just in case this is important to anyone!
The rest pale in comparison, but still, Olivia has a suprisingly strong back catalogue and these tracks deserve to be seen. Highlights include "Deeper Than The Night", "Silvery Rain", "Strangers Touch" and "I Honestly Love You"...enough sparkle to take the edge off a somewhat disappointing over-use of one particular night-club scene for many of the original 'Physical' [album] videos.
All in all, Olivia looks and sounds stunning - her voice almost as clear as her complexion. If you love Olivia - buy this!
