Terry is a handsome young man who has a secret: he is sexually attracted to much older men. He lives a closeted life in northern England, flying several times a year to the holiday island of Gran Canaria to indulge his unconventional passion. But on one of these trips he meets Alan Reid, the father of his ex-girlfriend – a man he’s always secretly desired. Alan and his best friend George Hope seem determined to grow old disgracefully amid the sun, sex and booze of the Canaries. Can this chance meeting lead to lasting happiness – or will it just be another holiday fling? Rich, bitter-sweet and sexy, Older Younger explores the nature of attraction between the generations, in the vibrant and colourful gay scene of Playa Del Ingles.
About the Author
Michael John was inspired to write "Older, Younger" after reading classics of the 1960s and '70s hedonistic gay scene, such as "Dancer From The Dance" by Andrew Holleran, "Faggots" by Larry Kramer and "City of Night" by John Rechy. In preparation for writing the book he conducted extensive field research in Playa Del Ingles, Benidorm, Berlin, Sitges and New York. The fact that the novel was ever actually written, despite the numerous temptations of the bars, beaches, saunas and "experimentation chambers" of these places, is a tribute to his resilience and self-discipline. A sequel to "Older, Younger" is planned, although at the moment the author is concentrating on science fiction. Michael John has also worked as a farm hand, a forklift truck driver, and a freelance gimp. He is 42 and lives in London.
