This is my very best baking book. Any time I want to bake this is where I look first. I have used this book so much that I wore it out and had to purchase a new copy.
The Armenian nutmeg cake is superb, and pecans work even better than walnuts, especially if you don't happen to like walnuts.
The lemon delicious is a family favourite.

The Victoria sponge is the absolute BEST Victoria sponge recipe I have ever used. The cake is moist, and wonderfully eggy, whilst light and delicious. Works brilliantly with mascarpone and home-made strawberry jam. It's so good that in our family we decide how much we like someone based on whether or not we'd give them a piece of cake if they dropped in. So if you're ever round our house and get offered a piece of Victoria sponge you know you're IN!
