I wanted to like Goodwins' book, and enjoyed reading a few of his limericks in the bookstore, but having purchased it, I feel like I have been had!Most of the limericks are weak, and too often, the author has not completely grasped the meaning of the biblical passage he is writing about.
One of his better ones is about Caleb: [See Joshua chapter 14]
At eighty-five, Caleb said "I
Am strong as I ever was. My
Inheritance, Hebron,
Was Moses' gift - and on
My God I will always rely."
A great idea, but be warned: the idea is better than the execution.
