Amazon.co.uk Review

Bramwell Bear remembers his friend Old Bear, who used to live with them in the Playroom, but is now banished to the attic. Bramwell and his friends Little Bear, Duck and Rabbit attempt to rescue him using a number of ingenious methods. Eventually, with the aid of a toy aeroplane, the rescue is effected and Old Bear joins his friends in the Playroom. Jane Hissey's comforting nursery world is wonderfully evoked in her delightful colour illustrations, which are full of warmth and vitality. This is an endearing book to share with young children. --Philippa Reece

Product Description

Many years ago, Old Bear was packed away in a box and taken up to the attic. And there he stayed until Bramwell Brown decided it was time to bring him back to the playroom. The intrepid and resourceful team of toys try all sorts of things to get him down, but it is Little Bear who finally comes to the rescue. . .

This beautifully illustrated book should capture the imagination of every child who loves their toys.

Old bear is a wonderful fragile bear who was put in the attic for safe keeping until the children were old enough to take care of him. Unfortunately, he seems to have been forgotten about and his friends in the nursery take it upon themselves to rescue him - no mean feat for a toy rabbit, a duck, a small teddy bear and a medium sized bear!

Not only is this a delightful story that children will love time and time again, but it also teaches them to take care of their toys and to treat them with respect.

The nursery's stuffed toys decide they need to rescue "Old Bear" from the attic where he had been put for safekeeping but now has been forgotten. The story is about how the toys set about getting him out from up there. Each animal comes up with an idea but in the end only one works out.

There are some books that I feel one cannot dislike and this is one of them. I've been reading it to my five year old for four years now and he still gets moved by it. A lovely, sweet book

Old Bear was the first Little Bear book I read and is still a firm favourite ten years later. The lovely pictures and well written prose tells the story of how the toys try to get high up into the attic to rescue Old Bear; it's a charming story and the pictures are still as detailed and entertaining as ever.
