This is the cast recording of the 1998, London National Theatre production of Oklahoma, starring Maureen Lipman as Aunt Eller, and Hugh Jackman as Curly. All the favourites are in there, Oh what a beautiful morning, I can't say no and All er Nothing amongst others. Close your eyes and you can almost smell the greasepaint. If you like musicals this is a must have.

This Trevor Nunn production is the best Oklahoma! I've ever seen or heard. The moment Hugh Jackman walks out on stage serenading Maureen Lipman, the standard just stays incredibly high. I admit to being devastated that Mr Jackman has apparently laid to rest his singing career and now stars in Hollywood blockbuster movies instead!! What a voice! What a waste of talent!
In fact, all the leads are excellent, including the all-dancing Will Parker. It just makes you feel happy watching it. I'm delighted to have found the soundtrack - I can now annoy my children by singing along to it loudly in the car.

It is difficult to do a revival of a classic show and make it sound new, but that is exactly what has happened here.
The tempos are a bit more brisk than any of the originals and the orchestrations capitalize on classic Rodgers harmonic progressions.

Great recording but nothing like the original score - hard to work from if you are trying to choreograph the big numbers.

Classic Musical.
An excellent version of the musical. Perfect to listen to when doing boring chores as you'll perk up no end with all the lively tunes.
