Informative 14 May 2011
By Michael R Burke - Published on
Format: Hardcover Verified Purchase
I recently became involved in the business side of a small pipeline and looked for the quickest crash course to get me up to speed. My main objective was to be able to talk to others in the industry without sounding ignorant. This book is very rudimentary and worked well for this purpose. It is not in any way entertaining and I fell asleep twice while reading it. I think I would have retained a bit more knowledge if the author had included more stories or examples. But when all is said and done, the book delivers exactly what it claims and I found it very helpful. I still use it for reference and I would definitely purchase it again.

Love the nontechnical books 7 Oct. 2010

I've worked in the oilfield for years and it is great to cross train whenever possible. This book is more geared to the operators sitting at a computer than people actually installing lines or production hands sending crude down a riser but i found it really interesting. No need to have a calculator handy when you read this book because it discusses more theory and procedure than numbers. These specifics that are normally calculated by a computer in the field anyway. Great line of books!!!!!

Clarity on an important industry 12 Nov. 2008
By D. Vanderpool - Published on
Format: Hardcover
Miesner and Leffler take the mystery out of understanding a critically important element of energy infrastructure. Oil and gas pipelines are essential to the world economy and were even an important topic in the 2008 presidential campaign. Pipelines are installed underground and not well understood. Miesner and Leffler essentially bring pipelines above ground so they can be understood as easily as highway and road systems which we see everyday. This book is the perfect reference for managers and politicians who need to understand the topic, and the perfect introduction for people just entering the industry. The book provides a basic understanding from which someone can begin a more technical investigation.

Practical Guide to the Pipeline Industry 7 May 2012
By S. Mascarenhas - Published on
Format: Hardcover
I found this book to be clear, concise, and insightful. The author covers terms that I've heard used in the industry before such as: line packing, cavitation, etc. I recommend this book as a quick tool for budding analysts to get up to speed with oil and gas industry speak. Energydynamics is another good resource for the gas industry.
