This book had me hooked from start to finish.
Deborah's witty writing style interspersed with many home-truths certainly struck a chord with me - I recognised nearly all of the traits (how sad is that!!) and couldn't help but laugh out loud. This book really is a gem; hilariously funny, yet clever at the same time. If you thought you could enter your 40s with respect - forget it! Definitely worth giving as a gift to anyone approaching their 40 year milestone.

If you know anybody (men included) who are about to hit the bit Four-Oh-My-God, then this latest gem from hilarious writer Deborah Durbin HAS to go in their stocking, Christmas or otherwise (depending on their persuasion, of course).
Right from the 'To tell or not to tell?' through the 'what not to wear' and up to the 'At least you're not 50' bits, this book had me in tears of laughter from start to finish. It was just like someone'd taken notes and turned my own impending 40th Birthday into a book - and every little funny fear was out there for the world to see and snortle over! Just so, so funny! I shall never be able to watch another advert for interest free sofas quite the same way! "You know you're into middle age when you realise that caution is the only thing you care to exercise" (Anon).

Another amazing gem by this talented writer. I do not usually read chick lit but this is a superb account of the nasty but amusing tricks that life plays on one as you past those difficult milestones. However, Deborah manages to tell it how it is but encourages the reader to realise they are not alone and to laugh at oneself is the best remedy. I have recommended and/or bought copies for all my girlfriends passing 40.I really hope to see a sequel for us even sadder and crazier women who have just passed the fifty line it gets worse and was pleased to see a section on it in this edition as a taster! If anyone can help you sail through it safely with your integrity in tact then ...this writer will. A fab Christmas or Birthday treat. Well done Deborah I couldn't put it down! Annie Manning
