Book Description

27 May 2010
Carol McGiffin has been on Loose Women almost since it started a decade ago, and she is known and adored by their millions of viewers and one of the most-loved presenters on the show. Women love her because she is brimming with brilliantly funny anecdotes and controversial opinions, and says all the things they think but would never dream of saying. She's a natural storyteller and has lived quite a life! It wasn't an easy start—growing up on a council estate; struggling to make ends meet after her dad left when she was a toddler and coping with her mom's violent boyfriend. It wasn't all doom and gloom though—Carol discovered her talent for making people laugh early on and she's been getting into trouble ever since. In this book she'll open up about her marriage to Chris Evans and will reveal all about the infamous seven years of celibacy that followed. She's now found happiness at last with her fiancé Mark and she'll be revealing all about how it's not how old you are that counts, it's your outlook on life that keeps you young—and a 26 year-old boy-toy certainly helps! Warm, candid, and at times poignant, and in her own unique voice, Carol's memoir will show why life is always best enjoyed with your glass half full.

Couldnt wait to start this book and read it in just over a day. I wasnt disappointed, as this was one of the best autobiographies I have ever read. It was very open and honest and Carol has obviously led a very colourful life. Well done Carol!

5.0 out of 5 stars BRILLIANT BRILLIANT BRILLIANT!!! 13 Jun 2010
By T J
Format:Hardcover
I found this book to be hilarious, happy, sad and very inspirational! I never realised just how talented Carol actually is. To be able to present on radio, television and write her own book is something she should be extremely proud of.

Carol has never ceased to make me laugh and in the book she made me laugh, cry and hurt with her.

5.0 out of 5 stars A gripping read 13 Jun 2010
Format:Hardcover
I must confess to not being a great fan of autobiography's however this book was one I couldn't put down. What really comes through the writing is the honesty that you see from Carol on screen. There is no covering up in this book, trying to excuse the choices she has made. It's a book which takes the reader through a roller coaster ride of emotion which keeps you needing to turn the page to find out what happens next. Carol has led an interesting life and it's great to read about a down to earth person who has finally found their place in life and who is evidently happy with her current situation (and who wouldn't be compared to what had gone before). I'd definitely recommend this book to anyone out there.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great read. 4 April 2011
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
I really enjoyed reading this book. I come from a similar background from Carol and think she is the best thing about Loose Women, she speaks the most sense anyway! You can understand the way she lives her life now partly because of the way she was brought up. I lost my Mum at 33 so can relate to her loosing her Mum too soon to. An enjoyable read and very funny in places. Great that she has now found the love of her life, he is obviously with her because she is a lovely lady and lots of fun. (when she's not being grunpy,as we all are sometimes!) This was the only "Loose woman" book I have read so far can't really be bothered with others as most of it's been in press anyway. I've bought the Linda Bellingham book because she is my second favourie Loose woman and she too has led an interesting life especially as she was adopted.
