This remote control should be used to match your Satin Silver PS2 for its DVD functions. It has 2 extra buttons: a open/close button and a reset/on-off button. Since the Silver PS2 is generally more expensive than the standard one, you may wish to have a proper silver set of components to match your PS2, right?

There is one more reason why you should buy this: The Silver console has a built-in infra-red receiver, meaning you can use its remote control without any add-on, keeping both controller slots free and no memory card required.

Note that if you're using the original black PS2 and your model number is below SCPH-50000 then don't get this one because the Silver remote control doesn't come with an infra-red receiver. If you have a Satin Silver PS2 then this silver remote control should be fine for you.

After purchasiing the ps2 silver remote, I can see already that it is styled perfectly to match the ps2 console, of which i own a silver one, once the remote is purchased, your ps2 becomes a sony dvd player as you would expect to find in a highstreet retailer, it was a dvd player before, sure, but what dvd player do you know that needs a control pad to use it? This accessory really does underline the dvd functionality of the ps2, it has every feature a sony dvd player remote has and more! the full triangle, square, cirlce etc. Also, what I believe to be the crowning factor, a power button, perfect. (make sure your ps2 model has the built in 'ir' reciever in between the 'power' and 'eject' button on the console, otherwise you will need to get the remote with the plug in reciever)

The main enhancement of this controller to the other PS2 controllers is that it can turn the power on and off on the console.

It also has a pointless but very amusing eject button on it, very funny if you want to annoy your girlfriend who's trying to remove a DVD.

this remote is fantastic a lot better than the boring old black one. The colour is excellent, plus it has two extra buttons on the top half of the remote.
