Synopsis
Brand new for 2007, this is an innovative, interactive CD-ROM version of the 2007 edition of the only "Official Highway Code" (HWC) in the market. Including 29 new rules and many revised rules of the road, this engaging, fun and educational product aims to accelerate the learning process and provides a thorough understanding of road safety and best practice. Many of the HWC rules are legal requirements and must be adhered to, in order to avoid penalty - fines, penalty points, disqualification or even prison. All road users need to be aware of the new rules. This is not just a product for learner drivers, it is ideal for all road users to update their knowledge of the HWC. This is a brand new interactive product format for the latest edition of "The Official Highway Code" (last major revision 1999). It includes The Official Highway Code with all the official diagrams. It is fully searchable for ease of use. It reflects the most up-to-date legislation that road-users must adhere to, advice on road safety and best practice, and includes a road signs database, and information on The Green Cross Code for younger road users.
It features a range of interactive quizzes and games (including Traffic Signs quiz and Stopping Distances Game) to test knowledge and understanding of the rules of the road plus a 'test yourself' function to review what the user has learnt. It offers a 'My Highway Code' function. The user can find out which rules are particular relevant to them, for example as a pedestrian, horse rider or driver. It includes Think! Road Safety information and advice on hot topics such as young driver attitude, mobile phone laws, child seat legislation and eco-driving. All the rules include a real voice-over option, to help those with dyslexia and reading difficulties. It is suitable for use alongside the entire official DSA range of learning materials for all road users. "The Official Highway Code" is for life, not just for learners. It is useful for all road users in England, Scotland and Wales, including pedestrians, cyclists, motorcyclists, drivers, horse riders and drivers of motorized wheelchairs and scooters. It is particularly appropriate for younger road users who would perhaps otherwise not read the book version.
