Not a Bad Basic Intro 24 Jan 2010
Format:Paperback
If you are a player, or a coach just starting out - this is worth getting. That is the point of these FA Guides. However, if you are looking for more info you should look elsewhere. There is nothing wrong with this book, except that it is very brief and basic.

Good place to start 5 Mar 2010
Format:Paperback
I bought this Official FA Fitness Guide with my grandson in mind. His footballing skills are sublime but fitness needs work. This is a must read for any young footballer and his/her parents, a teaching-aid for amateur or professional. It's academic reading in simple terms but it's laid out in such a way that chapters can be read in isolation and the reader will benefit from constant revision. It's a great way to start as it explains how the body works, how specific detailed exercises, attention to diet and nurturing self-discipline by keeping a diary all contribute to developing fitness and injury-free enjoyment of the game. Its summary at the end of each chapter requires the reader to interact by answering test questions. The idea that natural talent alone is the lynchpin to a top professional career is exposed as a myth as fitness, desire and dedication are equally important... `football is full of professionals whose determination to succeed has more than made up for their lack of natural ability. There are also many examples of very talented footballers who have relied too much on natural talent and never fulfilled their potential.'
