This item is great for charging your Blackberry while you are in your car driving about.
The module is really good build in robust black plastic.
Comes with about 0.5m of coiled cable that can stretch upto 2.0m in length before the natural recoil spring effect is too great to handle. In the car the 0.5m base length is important as it allows you to charge the battery while still having the phone in the central consul area for example. The movement of the car will tend to contact any stretch of the cable if you position the phone elsewhere in the car so, keep the phone somewhere near to the cig lighter area.
Be aware that the profile of the module has changed slightly from the picture used by Amazon, the module is now a 'straight out' unit rather than a curved unit. (See my uploaded user photo's for better explanation CG1,CG2,CG3). The newer 'straight out' unit projects straight out from the cig ligthter by about 5cm/2" normally this will not be a problem unless your cig ligher is positoned straight behind your gear lever - check how much room you have when in 1st, 3rd or 5th gear between your gear-stick in that gear and your cig lighter plus 5cm/2". If less than these sums your gear-stick may not be able to "get into gear" when the unit is in position. This should be the exception rather than the rule but worth double checking!
Another improvement on the official photo is the connector into the cig lighter now has 4 spring loaded earth/negative points (rather than 2) which help keep the module firmly in place within the cig lighter unlike cheaper or previous models that only have 2 spring connectors.
Apart from this the module can plug into any cig lighter of 12v/24v 300mA/150mA output and convert power to the required Blackberry charge rate of 5vDC 500mA. The part number for reference is HDW-04196-002 (Made in China).
Hope this helps - Colin.
