The official Doctor Who wall calendar for 2012 is the usual size for this kind of thing, offering two pages to a month with a big picture on the top one and the dates and notes for the month on the bottom.
The latter pages on this one offer nothing more than the dates for the month plus small boxes showing those for the previous and subsquent months at a glance, a small space for writing notes, and the occasional day of interest being noted as such.
Last year the pictures in the calendar related to one different episode from the most recent season per month. This one having been produced at a time when the last half of the season is yet to be shown means that a different approach has had to be taken. And thus it uses publicity shots of the characters.
There's an initial double page for the year as a whole showing a small calendar for all of it plus the Doctor, Amy and Rory.
The publicity photos are then as follows for the months:
January: The Doctor.
February: The silence.
March: River Song and the Doctor.
April: Amy as a pirate plus Captain Avery.
May: Nephew [the Ood from the episode the Doctor's wife] and the Doctor.
June: Rory. And Amy.
July: The Siren [from the episode the curse of the black spot] and the Doctor.
August: The Gangers [from the episodes the rebel flesh/the almost people].
September: Dorium Maldovar [the blue man in a good man goes to war] and the Doctor.
October: Auntie and Uncle [from the Doctor's wife].
November: A Sontaran [possibly the one from a good man goes to war but not named as such] and the Doctor.
December: A Cyberman.
All the photos can be seen in on the back cover. Along with another picture of the Doctor.
A fair product for what it is and it should keep most fans happy.
