Finished playing men of war, and needed a new fix so i bought this little number. It plays a bit like a more advanced version of blitzkrieg, but the animations etc are better. It puts you in charge of numerous units on a massive battlefield, and there in lies the rub....It's too big, and finding, say, a medical truck can be nigh on impossible. Remembering where all your strategically placed units are - forget it. You can't zoom out enough to a decent strategic view, and the minimap is just a cluttered mess. Okay so you can goup units and have an icon for each group on the screen, but it's still not ideal. Infantry doesn't automatically use cover and that's a pain. AI is pretty much non existent, and once you learn the routines you can just let the enemy tanks roll in and blow them to pieces. A bug I noticed was that a large (5)group of M7 priests were almost indestructible, and could waste a couple of tigers no problem...uh?
All this said though it is still quite absorbing and fun to play, with expansive battlefields that sometimes lets the enemy catch you unawares. It's so damn annoying when you lose that huge battlegoup you've just been amassing to a load of german rocket infantry that have been sneaking through some woods. The game can crash occasionally so save regularly. It aint no Men of War, but it's good enough if you need a fix.

Hard game to play and requires quite powerful specs from a computer. The game loses it's fun factor because of the sheer difficulty. Could have been much better

I didn't think I'd get much out of this game, and when I found I'd have to go buy a mouse to play this properly I wasn't expecting anything special at all. I was pleasantly surprised to find great graphics, and the size of the battles are the biggest I've ever seen. The detail of the models is good, and the game is pretty easy to master. One thing that did annoy me was that installing was annoying, and I had an error message to begin with, but I soon got around it. Also, voice acting at some parts is pretty strange, and the actors sound like they're taking the pee. But on the whole, surprisingly good, especially for such a low price.
