Be warned. The picture of the little book holder does not reflect what it does to your book. The holder has to grab from the top several pages either side of the ones you are reading, and has "legs" that slide down behind those pages. So far so good - you can imagine those legs behind the open pages that are shown in the picture. However, when the legs slide down behind the pages they pull the pages forward at the top, pushing the pages you are reading towards each other at the top. This means that the top paragraphs on your open pages can't be read properly because they are pushed against each other. This happens regardless of the number of pages that the legs "grab" behind the open page. The little "arms" that you see in the picture cannot flatten the pages open in the way that is shown. And this isn't the main problem. The main problem is that the holder permanently damages the tops of the book's pages. In order for the "arms" to hold the pages open, they have to bend the tops of the pages against the "legs" behind, and this leaves a fold mark. Also, the plastic of the holder is fairly thick and the tops of the pages are easily broken and bent by being pushed down upon by the plastic. When you think about it, this is obviously going to happen given the holder's design, but the picture leads you to think that everything slips neatly in place. It doesn't. This holder is a book-mangler.

Doesnt do the job I hoped it would. I was looking for something to hold music books and keep them from turning over when I play but you have to stop to rearrange it when you turn the page. Good if you want a particular page open for a long time but not for page turners! It looks nice though

Okay I got this for my birthday and I feel bad that its absolutely useless. It's difficult to put in the book, so much so that I didn't actually achieve anything. And I could tell that if I do actually ever accomplish to put it in right that I'll struggle to read the words close to the spine and I would ruin my book. I just tried putting the damn thing in now and the pages are all wavy and crumpled, for someone with OCD like me it's very distressing. I should also point out that with my book I was near the end so one side was larger and heavier than the other so that made it difficult to put the holder in and for it to stay there. So in conclusion this is useless, not worth it. And it turns out that Amazon insists that we must give it a star when it turns out that it doesn't even deserve one star.

I bought this little thing in Waterstones, figuring it'd be a nice cheap little tool to help when say, you're cooking and you need to hold open the cookery book at a certain page. Well I wouldn't even pay 10p for it.

Actually setting it up is annoying, and when you move the thing to try and read words close to the spine, there's always the fear of pulling out or ripping some pages. Not to mention after you take it out, it leaves you with messy pages that are all bent and wavy after use.

Utterly worthless.

this can really f*ck your books up leaving to warped pages, not only that it does make the pages difficult and awkward to read, this is a nice novelty as an idea but never use it or buy it if you're serious about using, invest in a decent book stand

This book holder is exactly what I needed; I have large books for university, that I have to keep open to note from whilst typing on my laptop. I am forever flicking the pages back to turn to the right page and needed something to stop this other than my shoe. This cheap little book holder is perfect - does what it says on the tin for the price. It holds the book completely flat open and turning the pages is relatively easy. Perfect.

Not as good as a "Gimble" but handier if you want something to carry around on holiday. Bit fiddly to use.

Seems a lot of money for a bit of cut-out plastic but it really works well.
(Just don't overdo the number of pages you 'grab' at any one time or the pages buckle or you can tear them by forcing them flat). To any persistent reader I would say "Just get one".
