Format:Hardcover
More lost souls wander the pages, stalking my nightmares and tugging at my heartstrings. Brom's 'Offerings' is another collection of stunning fantasy artwork, ranging in date from 1994-2000. The shorts bursts of prose accompanying many of the works give a clearer insight perhaps as to the inspiration behind the characters.

From the seductive to the downright fearsome, Brom puts to canvas images which live and breathe with the capability of provoking a wide range of emotions in the viewer; sometimes a need to turn the page fast, denying a base human desire to study the macabre in intimate detail(something to indulge when the house is quiet and the kids are in bed?)or maybe, dependant on one's gender, a longing to inhabit a world of fetish-clad females or smouldering-eyed elf men.

Maybe compared to Brom's bookform debut 'Darkwerks', 'Offerings' lacks the initial shockability for the already initiated, but that said, he never fails to drag the unexpected up from his shadowy world where beauty ever hides the sinister.

Those not familiar with Brom will find a veritable feast for the eye (his use of colour and contrast is truly astounding), and may find themselves unwittingly beguiled and joining his band of merry followers who close carefully the book for fear of angering its inhabitants and who peer more closley into the shadows at nightfall.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Collection - but not as good as Darkwerks 6 Mar 2005
By HARRISON CHUA - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
This is a good collection of Brom's art... but if you are thinking of buying a Brom book... buy 'Darkwerks' before you buy this book.

The art in this collection is more mature and refined in comparison with Brom's Darkwerks collection, but is lacking in quantity and the spontaniety of his card art.

He is one of the few artists who rarely uses reference material whilst painting. This approach is evident due to the fact that a lot of the figures have comic-book figure proportions -- which is admirable in this day in age where painters trace from photos.

Verdict: Buy Brom's Darkwerks first, buy this after.

5.0 out of 5 stars Darkness incarnate 6 Nov 2001
By @ - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover
This is Broms second book, his artwork is more mature than that in Darkwerks and perhaps a little less immediate, but never take a Brom picture at face value, even the classically beautiful images have something unpleasant lurking in the background. Fans of Brom will be glad to know that is more of the excellent, if somewhat disturbed work of perhaps the best fantasy illustrator working today. BUY IT !!
5.0 out of 5 stars One at which you should look. 19 Nov 2012
By Joseph A. Vodvarka - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover|Amazon Verified Purchase
For those who enjoy the darker renderings of the human mind, Brom is definitely an easy choice. His works in this collection are both beautiful and disturbing. Although I am not an art critic, I do know what I like. Give this one a shot; you will not be disappointed.
