I used this book as a start to my topic on Mexico for Year 1 children. The pictures are bold and colourful and it covers lots of the aspects the children needed to know as an intro to Mexico. Nice part on the language too!

A great book to introduce the culture of Mexico with Reception aged children. Pictures are bright and appealing, and as it rhymes, there was a lot to pick up on and use in class. The children enjoyed looking through the book independently, and found many interesting things to comment on. It is not totally comprehensive, but gives a very definite flavour of a fascinating country. It also includes a brief history section, common Spanish vocabulary and numbers, all of which combine with the easy-to-remember text to make a good multi-cultural experience, as well as just being enjoyable.

This is a really great book, we also have my granny went to market. The rhyming text reads well and the pictures are fun with lots to spot
