All organisations have to deal with various types of sickness absence from time to time and this book gives excellent guidance in how to handle the problem fairly. There is a lot of practical advice on monitoring and measuring sickness absence, recommended procedures for dealing with it, a few sample letters and some very helpful case studies.
All the line managers in my organisation now have a copy of the book, if only to help make sure they don't make mistakes when dealing with sickness absence in their own departments, which could result in a bigger problem for HR. I would recommend this book to anyone with a responsibility for employing and managing people.
