CRITICAL PRAISE FOR "EYE OF ODIN" BY MAGNUS BLEDWELL

“…Hideous perils and hilarious misadventures. A rollicking page-turner…”
—KIRKUS REVIEWS

“A rollicking, big-hearted coming-of-age tale... classic rite-of-passage storytelling. [The] ruggedly Nordic mythscape will send shivers of anticipation down even the most jaded middle-school spine…”
—BLOOMSBURY REVIEW

“…should keep boys and girls alike spellbound.”
—KLIATT SCHOOL AND LIBRARY REVIEW

Dane the Defiant is out to win the heart of Astrid, the fairest, and some say, most dangerous girl in their Viking village. It’s not just her looks that can kill -- her deadly skill with axes can split a man’s head in two from fifty paces. No wonder she’s earned the formidable nickname, Mistress of the Blade. Dane is her equal in strength, looks and weapon craft -- and now, since both have reached their sixteenth year, it’s time he let his intentions be known to her, before his rival Jarl the Fair can stake his claim.
But in so doing Dane makes a fatal error that brings catastrophe to his village -- and causes Astrid to be kidnapped by the evil Lord Thidrek. His horrid plan? Trade Astrid for Thor’s Hammer, the ancient, magical weapon of mass destruction. Backed by the infamous Berserkers, an invincible, merciless warrior clan, Thidrek is confident nothing can stop him.
Dane and Astrid will never give up their fight to reunite, no matter what the odds. But while braving Thidrek and his thugs, they must also face a daunting array of mythical Norse creatures -- including deadly doom fish, a fearsome frost giant, and one nasty, name-calling troll. In this enthralling tale of epic courage and undying love, Astrid and Dane stand to take their place among the greatest Viking heroes of all time… if they can put a stop to Thidrek’s terrifying scheme in time.
