If you loved the cinemas of the fifties and sixties to date, then this is a book you will enjoy over and over. Alan Eyles really knows his stuff, but writes in a pleasant light manner which makes reading very easy. This book, the second part of the history of Odeon theatres, contains some of the best photographs of the era that I have seen - including a number in full colour. I constantly find myself getting this book from the shelf for a browse - and once you have it you will want Alan's books on the other cinemas - ABC, Granada, Gaumont (which can be tricky to get hold of) and the Book 1 giving the earlier history of Odeon. I would have welcomed more statistical information in tabular format, but that's about the only criticism I would make of this wonderful book.

Cinema Fanatic. 19 July 2011
Format:Paperback
A very good and imformative Volume 2 of Odeon Cinemas.
I have worked for Odeon for many years and find that almost what's inside this book is well presented and true to form. Mr. Eyles knows his subject well and went to a great deal of trouble to get this imformation and very good histories about the Odeon cinemas that once thrived in almost every town and city throughout Britain.
Wealth of photo's to go with it plus an updated section of Odeon Cinemas that are still in operation when the book was published. Well done Mr. Eyles. It would be interesting if he ever updated these volumes in years to come to see what changed since he published volume 2..A good and imformative read.
