Product Description

The first part of a spine-tingling 3-part Odd Thomas novella, exclusively in ebook. Includes a preview of the next thrilling novel in Dean Koontz’s acclaimed Odd Thomas series: Odd Apocalypse. Small-town guy meets big-time evil…

THERE’S ROOM AT THE INN, BUT YOU MIGHT NOT GET OUT…

Odd Thomas and Annamaria need a break from the road. Nestled on a lonely stretch along the Pacific Coast, the warm lights of Harmony Corner welcome them in. The quaint roadside outpost offers everything a weary traveller desires – a cosy diner, a handy service station, a cluster of motel rooms … and the Harmony family homestead presiding over it all.

But Odd has a bad feeling about this place. There’s more to the secluded haven than meets the eye – and between life and death there is something more frightening than either. Odd has faced evil many times and he will face it again before the night is over…

3.0 out of 5 stars Just a sample 12 Jun 2012

I'm a huge Dean Koontz fan but this part one is not much more than other authors offer as a free sample, I read the 80 pages in one short read and was dissapointed that it had only just begun when it finished. I knew it was book one but I still imagined 150 - 200 pages, not 80. I notice Dean Koontz is making a habit of this as I really enjoyed Frankenstein until I got to book 4, half the length of book 3 and it still hadn't finished. Come on Dean write us a proper book with a begining and an ending again. What there is of this is of course a good read.

Having read all three parts of Odd Interlude and Odd Apocalypse I have to say that I wish Dean had made Odd Interlude 1 2 and 3 into one full length novel. I found the plot original and Odd is more like the Odd Thomas you get to know in the earlier books, there is a major departure in character when you read Odd Apocalypse which is the sequel to Odd Interlude. The combination of alien elements and a psychic hold over the residents of the settlement was very original and kept me hooked throughout the three installments.

Bearing in mind how greedy HarperCollins have been in demanding 10 quid for the sequel Odd Apocalyse I found that although Odd Interlude was short it was a really gripping read and well worth paying just under 3 quid for the combined book. Its a real shame that this book is not available in paper and audio formats for those Odd Thomas fans who are visually impaired and cannot use a Kindle as I feel they miss out by not reading this excellent short trilogy. As a Kindle user I loved receiving the book as a serial in three parts as a warm up act prior to the release of Odd Apocalypse, even though it was of course a cynical marketing tactic!

Dean Koontz is getting back into the groove with the Odd Interlude series in preparation for the new Odd book in July. Enjoyable first part, downloaded well and worked well on the Kindle. Roll on book 2.

3.0 out of 5 stars Incomplete
Obviously a book deliberately split into parts to make reader spend more money to reach conclusion.as not really a series it becomes a rip off.
